Montoro Design Studio
This studio usually helps SMI and SME in designing and developing their goods, equipment, packaging and graphics.
For the first time in 25 years of professional practice, Richard Montoro embarked on a personal project.
In effect, for the “Cabanon du Designer”, Richard Montoro was in turn purchaser and designer for a project without compromise.
To complete this experience focused on comfort and recreational space, it was hard to take and balance the role played between the two parties.
The architecture and interior design is appreciated by holiday makers seeking rest and renewal.
Furniture design
To set up the Cabanon, special furniture and equipment were designed and created.
In many respects, the interior of the Cabanon has been designed like a ship.
The hallways are lined with sliding doors and the stern of the building is filled by a bedroom.
Ingenious storage is provided in each room.
Furniture creation has been designed as a series of sketches recorded in a small book format.
The drawings were modified several times and then sized in preparation for manufacture in furniture workshops.
Working with teaching staff of the Lycée Polyvalent Astier, the task of manufacturing the furniture was given to several students of the woodworking section.
Several meetings with the students were required to manage the amount of experimentation for some creations and follow the manufacture of furniture.
The furniture is made of solid ash coloured melamine, laminated wood and three-ply wood panels.
